Step-by-Step Video Setup Tutorial

Follow along with our complete installation video covering tree wrap placement, ratchet tensioning, pulley threading, spring brake positioning, and initial safety testing:

5-Step Installation Overview

Step 1: Tree Selection & Course Inspection

Select two healthy, mature hardwood trees (minimum 12 inches in diameter at mounting height). Ensure the flight path between the trees is completely clear of rocks, tree branches, shrubs, roots, and fences.

Step 2: Tree Protection Wraps & Anchor Slings

Always install the included protective tree pads around both anchor trunks before securing cables. This prevents bark stripping and keeps your trees healthy while stabilizing the anchor cable.

Step 3: Threading the Spring Brake & Trolley Pulley

Before anchoring the cable at the terminating tree, thread the steel dual-bearing trolley onto the line (facing toward the end tree), followed by the 5.9ft stainless steel spring brake and rubber stopper. Note: The spring brake must be positioned near the end tree to cushion deceleration.

Step 4: Cable Tensioning (Targeting 2% Sag)

Use the heavy-duty steel turnbuckle or ratchet tensioner to tighten the main cable. Aim for approximately 2% cable sag under maximum rider weight (e.g. 2 feet of sag on a 100ft course). Tighten all U-bolt wire rope clamps firmly using the golden rule: "Never saddle a dead horse" (the U-bolt saddle sits against the live, load-bearing cable).

Step 5: Pre-Flight Safety & Weight Testing

Before allowing children or riders on the zip line, test the line by hanging a 150–250 lbs dead weight (such as sandbags) from the trolley and running it down the line. Check clearance, clamp firmness, turnbuckle security, and spring brake compression.
